In the week of May 5–9, 2025, a professional development trip to Italy took place, which included a visit to the prestigious Macfrut trade fair in Rimini and the company Vivai Battistini, specializing in explant culture and nursery production. The trip was attended by a group of academic staff from the Department of Breeding and Propagation of Horticultural Plants and the Department of Genetics, together with first-year students of the professionally oriented study program Nursery Production.
Macfrut is one of the most prestigious European events focused on horticulture (especially fruit and vegetable production), nursery production, and logistics. The fair offered participants not only an overview of the latest trends and technologies in these areas, but also the opportunity to establish contacts with professionals from the field.
The second stop was the company Vivai Battistini, which has long specialized in in vitro plant propagation and the production of nursery stock. Participants had the opportunity to see a modern facility that combines traditional nursery practices with scientific methods and technologies.
The trip was a valuable opportunity for participants to expand their professional knowledge, establish new contacts within the industry, and gain inspiration for the development of new teaching materials.
