The conditions of admission for the academic year 2016/2017

Application for study

Application form must be submitted electronically at e-application.

The administrative fee

Administrative admission fee is 440 CZK.
The administrative fee must be paid by transfer or postal order on account of Mendel University in Brno.

Graduates of the same or related bachelor degree program implemented at the Faculty of Horticulture MENDELU will be admitted after the successful completion of the bachelor examination to the master's degree program based on an application and study results in bachelor’s degree study according to the following
principles:

  • for the study results achieved in bachelor's degree study one can receive a maximum of 20 points by converting in the following table:

  •  for the resulting classification of the state bachelor exam one can receive a maximum of 20 points by converting in the following table:

  • Applicants must pass a language exam in English by the deadline specified by the study department of the Faculty of Horticulture

The maximum number of points that can be obtained is 40.

Graduates of the bachelor's degree program, implemented at other faculties or universities, will be admitted to the master's degree program – after submitting a diploma of passing the state bachelor exam – by the following principles:

  • for the study results achieved in bachelor's degree study one can receive a maximum of 20 points by converting in the following table:

  • evaluation of the results of the bachelor exam at the related fields of study is not performed within the admission procedure – it is replaced by an oral interview and differential examinations of the disciplines that make up the Bachelor exam at the Faculty of Horticulture and one can receive a maximum of 20 points by converting in the following table:

Differential examinations for admission procedure:

field of study Horticulture
Part A: Plant biology (botany, plant physiology, plant genetics, microbiology)
Part B: Horticulture (floriculture, fruit growing, vegetable growing, viticulture)
Part C: Economic disciplines (economics, marketing, law)

Applicants will be asked one question from each examination part A, B, C – each answer will be classified separately. Overall assessment of an oral interview will be calculated as the arithmetic average of the individual differential exams and scored by the table.

The maximum number of points that can be obtained is 40.

Foreign nationals may in special cases (eg. long distance between the place of residence and the seat of the faculty) ask the Dean to excuse oral part of admission procedure. In this case, the applicant shall submit with the application form certified document of completion of bachelor's degree study (certified copy of a diploma and a simple copy of the Diploma Supplement or its equivalent), CV, motivation letter and a letter of recommendation from the respected expert in the field.

The maximum number of applicants is 15.
