We launched the 2nd edition of the College for 2 days event – high school students tried out life at the Faculty of Horticulture.
On 12-13 March 2025, the 2nd edition of the University for 2 Days event took place at the Faculty of Horticulture of MENDELU, allowing high school students to experience first-hand what it is like to study at our faculty. This unique event was designed for the best participants of the competitive quiz, which involved more than 120 enthusiastic candidates. From these, the top 25 were selected to receive an exclusive opportunity to become part of the ZF academic community for two days.
The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Ing. Patrik Burg, Ph.D., who welcomed the students and introduced them not only to the wide range of study programmes, but also to the modern facilities that the faculty provides. A rich programme followed – the participants actively participated in lectures, tried their hand at working in laboratories, toured the greenhouses, arrangement room and unique assortment collections and soaked up the friendly atmosphere of the faculty. There was also a visit to the student club, where they had the opportunity to get to know real university life up close.
The whole event met with an extremely positive response and confirmed the importance of connecting the university and high school environment. We believe that the participants left not only with new knowledge, but also with inspiration for their future – and perhaps with the decision that the Faculty of Horticulture will be their next study stop.
We look forward to next year’s edition and to seeing more enthusiastic young talents!
