Candidate – Information about the admission procedure
All important terms relating to the admissions to all the levels of study can be found on the Important dates website.
First of all, all applications are submitted electronically. After that you have to print it out, sign it on both sides, add all the required attachments and send it to the address of the faculty by means of postal services, as registered and tracked mail.
Your envelope must contain the printed and signed (on both sides) application and document listing your grades from the high school.
Your high school grades must be attested by your high school, with a signature and stamp on the printed application. You can also ask your high school to provide a record of grades with an official stamp and signature.
The same conditions apply to you as those applying to applicants still studying their last year of high school. You need to fill out and submit the e-application, print it out, sign it on both sides and send it to the address of the MENDELU Faculty of Horticulture by means of postal services, as registered and tracked mail.
To the application you must also include a certified official copy of your high school leaving exam certificate (in the Czech Republic you can obtain official copies at most post offices and municipalities offering the so-called “Czechpoint” service, also from many lawyers and public notaries). You can also attach copies of the individual end-year school reports (these do not have to be officially verified).
Yes, you can. Just do not forget to pay the administration fee per each of the applications.
In one envelope you can send more applications, if all of them go to the MENDELU Faculty of Horticulture.
The document with the grades from your high school, signed and stamped, must be attached separately to each of the applications submitted.
The administrative fee for the admissions procedure is CZK 600, or CZK 800 for Landscape Architecture, respectively.
The fee is payable to the account number provided in the electronic application form. The payment must be identified with a “variable symbol” that is generated per each individual applicant. The account number and the variable symbol will be generated by the system after a correct completion of the entire e-application form.
Print out the proof of payment and attach it to your application (applications) in the envelope.
In international transactions, state the number of your e-application or applicant’s name in the comment section of your bank transfer.
Provide the grades for the past 3.5 years of study at your high school, fill them out in the provided four columns as follows:
column I – 1st grade (or Quinta in eight-year high schools) – end-year school report
column II – 2nd grade (or Sexta) – end-year school report
column III – 3rd grade (or Septima) – end-year school report
column IV – 4th grade (or Octava) – half-term school report
In the column “1st – 3rd grade” state grades from all subjects listed on the end-year school report, in column “4th grade” state grades from all subjects listed on the half-term school report of the last year (the same applies to applicants who have already graduated from high school earlier). Column “5th grade” should be left blank.
Fill out the high school classification report in the same way as the applicants still studying at high school. Fill out the same columns and boxes. If you have graduated from an extended type of study with a leaving exam, enter this alongside the grades from the previous study. For instance, a graduate from a two-year extended study with leaving exam enters grades from both years of the extended study (column III and IV) and fills the remaining columns with grades from the last years of the previous study (column I and II).
If you are unsure what to do, contact the Study Office of FH MENDELU.
For the bachelor’s study, the only criterion for acceptance is the average grade from the previous study at high school. Only the last 3.5 years of study are taken into account. If the average grade is 1.00 the applicant receives 100 points. If the average grade is lower, the applicant receives a lower point score. The dean decides about the acceptance, based on the order of the applicant and the maximum number of applicants accepted.
The only exception applies to the Landscape Architecture study programme, where there is another criterion – talent (aptitude) test.
Those who will do the talent test (applies to bachelor’s course in Landscape Architecture) will receive an invitation with all the details. You can check the date also through the e-applications app where you will see the date and place of the talent test.
Talent tests usually take place in May.
The letter of motivation is an obligatory part of the admission procedure for the bachelor’s course in Landscape Architecture. To write the letter of motivation, follow the instructions provided in Talent exam 2023 – study programme Landscape architecture. We highly recommend writing the letter of motivation in Microsoft Word (there are no specific requirements as per formatting, but we still recommend the document-writing standard). Print the letter of motivation, sign it and send it to the address provided in the instructions below.
If the red exclamation mark shows next to the “High school grades” item or “Application delivery not confirmed” or “Payment”, our studies officer usually follows this procedure:
- Checks the correct filling out of applicants’ personal data and addresses.
- Confirmation of delivered documents and high school grades based on sent and signed printouts of the e-application forms (may be delayed if there are too many applicants or if the officer is temporarily out of office).
- Pairing of received payments with the e-applications (in about 5-7 days from the transaction).
- Transfer of the e-application into standard record of applications, printing for archiving.
- Correction of minor formal flaws in the submitted application.
If you are an applicant who submitted a printed and signed e-application along with the record of your high school grades, you need to wait a few days before the officer manages to check all the received documents, which she confirms one by one.
However, if more than 14 days have passed from the submission of your e-application printout via registered mail, it is better to contact the officer via e-mail and check for the reasons why your documents have not been confirmed yet.
Enter the study programme or high school by text search function (even from a part of the phrase, e.g. “high school of”) and clicking on the Search button. After that the result of the search appears after or below the button.
If searching your high school, use the name of your school. If still unsuccessful, proceed with entering the street or the city where the school is located.
For the high school study programme, enter the name of the study programme (such as “gymnasium”, “general”, “academy”, etc.).
The decision will be issued within 30 days from the verification of the conditions for acceptance. You will be informed about the decision via the university information system (if you provide a consent with that in your electronic application). This means that you will learn the result after the meeting of the admissions committee online after logging into the e-application system.
When you receive the leaving certificate, request a certified copy (verification through Czechpoint, post offices, municipalities, public notaries or lawyers) and send this copy immediately to the study office of FH MENDELU.
All information about the date of enrolment, accommodation possibilities, introduction to study, etc., is published on the FH MENDELU website > Student > Bachelor’s study > Freshman information.
Yes, of course. The admission procedure for students applying from other faculties or universities includes the so-called differential test.
In case of previous study at a different faculty (or university), you can request recognition of subjects studied there if they are similar to those studied at FH. This requires an approval of the guarantor of the subject you wish to have recognized, and it this approval is granted, you need to fill out an application at the Study Office. The recognition is only possible at the beginning of the 1st semester, and only for subjects completed within the past 5 years.
More information on that can be found in the Study and Examination Regulations (Article 15).
Applicant – Part-time (combined) form of study
In the full-time study, your priority is to study and you have the status of a student.
Part-time form of study is ideal if you wish to work full-time alongside the studies.
Part-time form of study is scheduled into blocks taking place during each semester. The blocked study complies with the Faculty of Horticulture Schedule of the academic year. In winter and summer semester the part-time study covers no more than 14 weeks, in the following way:
- in the first week – block of no more than 4 days (may include weekdays only, or include Saturdays)
- in the following weeks – 6 – 11 blocks always on Fridays and Saturdays (approximately from 8.00 AM until 6:00 PM in Lednice)
You can check and see how part-time study was organised in the winter semester 2017/2018.
We offer the part-time form of study for the following study programmes and specialisations:
Study programme Horticultural Engineering
- Specialisation in Horticulture
- Specialisation in Viticulture and Oenology
- Specialisation in Processing technologies and food quality
Study programme Landscaping and greenery management

Full-time study requires your full attention. Your priority is to study and you have the status of a student. This study takes up to 40 hours per week, but it depends on your effort and the selected study programme. In the follow-up master’s course it will be easier for you to estimate the difficulty of the individual subjects and the entire study, and usually it is quite easy to combine the studies with a part-time or even full-time job.
The standard length of the follow-up master’s study is 2 years and it takes place in Lednice.
The standard length of the bachelor’s study is 3 years, and 4 years for Landscape Architecture. The table below shows where study takes place in each given year.

Student – Information about study at FH MENDELU
Credits are point scores per each subject. For successfully completing a subject, a student receives the given number of credits.
To move from 1st to 2nd semester you need at least 12 credits. If you receive 11 or less, your study will be terminated.
In the next course of the study you will need at least 40 credits per the two previous semesters to move to the next semester (e.g. 1st semester 15 credits + 2nd semester 30 credits = moving to the 3rd semester with 45 credits).
For admission to the state bachelor’s exam, you need 180 credits from the three-year study, and 240 credits from four-year study.
For admission to the final state exam, you need 120 credits from the two-year study.
Schedule of the academic year can be viewed (after logging in) in UIS, application Student’s portal studenta.
A detailed version can be downloaded as PDF document:
First of all you need to go through the initial egistration – this is to find out the preliminary number of students in individual subjects (compulsory subjects are pre-registered automatically).
Based on these results, the schedule is generated.
Then the subject registrations are done – by this the student bindingly determines which subjects he/she will study. Specific schedule events for lectures and practices are selected during this registration process. It is not obligatory to register into previously registered subjects. If a student fails to perform the registration, their study is terminated.
And finally, changes in registrations may take place – the students may make changes in already registered subjects (remove or add subjects).
For an excellence study performance in the previous semester, a student can apply for a merit scholarship.
You can also apply for accommodation grant if you will stay in the student dormitory and live far away from the school.
If you have previously studied at another faculty or university, you can request recognition of the subjects studied there, if they are similar to those studied at FH.
It only applies to students of the doctoral study. An individual study plan must be approved by the branch council within 3 months from the enrolment in the study. It shall define the content and specialisation of the individual research, scientific, and development work of the student, and the topic of their dissertation.
In case of serious reasons (such as health issues, maternity leave) a student can apply for interruption of their studies. This is only possible by means of a written request submitted at the Study Office. The standard period of interruption is one semester.
In case of failed final exams, each student is entitled to one revision date. This must be applied for by means of an electronic application at the Study Office requesting interruption of study and a revision in the next term available.
During office hours, students can access the Study Office using their entry card.
More information on that in the “Contact centre”.
Wireless internet connection is available within the FH campus, via the Eduroam network. To connect to internet, follow the instructions.
At the dormitories, there is also cable connection available. More information here: https://tech.mendelu.cz/en

System integrator is a person at the faculty, university, or other workplace, who is responsible for a smooth operation of the information system (UIS), trainings, and support for the users. A system integrator is the person responding to questions regarding the operation of the system, collecting all ideas and reports about any flaws of the system. Each faculty and university institutes or workplaces have their own system integrator.
System integrator is not your study officer. Their task is to deal with technical issues in the UIS.
