LED Student Association

The Faculty of Horticulture’s LED Student Association takes care of the leisure life of students of all fields across all years. We have entertainment covered here in Lednice!

The number of members of the association keeps changing, but permanently there is about 30 of us. Our team secures the student events in Lednice every year. We host events that are considered traditions by now, but we also try to come up with new ones, so that you have as much fun as possible. At the beginning of the academic year (in September) we welcome newbies at the Ice-Breaker event. Then we celebrate the start of the new academic year together with the older students at the Zpátky v LEDu/Back in LED event. Throughout the year we host meetings of the Enolák tasting club, lecture cycles by students of the Viticulture and winemaking study program – Wine way, Gala tastings (formal outdoor wine tastings with live music), all sorts of events in our own tearoom called Ledová čajovna, or night time events at the Ovocko student club. Students from Brno are also welcome to attend all of these events.

Sports oriented students can participate in the annual floorball tournament at the local gymnasium or exercise at the workout field where we also meet for the bonfires during the so-called Fire party with a workout.

However, the most anticipated event of the year is the ZF MENDELU Representative ball which annually takes place in March at the House of Culture in Velké Bílovice. This ball is never missing a broad program, a great band and dulcimer music, traditional extensive wine bar and notorious floral decoration. It is also one of the reasons why students and alumni from both near and far away come all this way to attend it.

While students in Brno attend the Brno Majáles festival, here in Lednice we host a summer festival called MajáLED. We even publish our own student magazine Ledoviny and collaborate with the Section of young gardeners falling under the Association for the establishment and maintenance of greenery on events and workshops.

We finish off the academic year with the Konec v LEDu event, where we say goodbye to recent graduates and remember the fun we’ve had together throughout the year. Moreover, we also host fun Student Association teambuilding events, so if you want to take part and join us, feel free to let us know!
