Our faculty participated in this year’s nationwide Researchers’ Night event, this time with a program at the VIDA! Science Center in Brno. The theme of our exhibition was “The Richness of Microorganisms” – a fascinating world that cannot be seen with the naked eye, but without which life on Earth could not exist.
Visitors had the opportunity to look under a microscope and discover invisible organisms and structures that play a fundamental role in nature. At the prepared stations, they could view microorganisms on culture media, try out interactive demonstrations with crops, and find out how these tiny entities affect plants – whether positively or negatively.
The program also included displays of vegetables and fruits, which allowed visitors to learn about their species diversity and even taste some of them. Using specific examples, we showed how diverse the products offered by nature are and how important microorganisms are in their cultivation.
Our activities showed that microorganisms not only affect plant health, but also the entire functioning of ecosystems. Even the smallest ones contribute significantly to the rich diversity of life on Earth.
We would like to thank everyone who stopped by our stand and let themselves be drawn into a world that normally remains hidden from the human eye.
