The Master’s degree program Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Horticulture, Mendel University in Brno, has been officially recognized by IFLA Europe – the European Region of the International Federation of Landscape Architects. The recognition, valid for five years (2025–2030), confirms the high quality of education the faculty provides in the field of landscape architecture and grants graduates the qualification to practice as landscape architects in Europe.
The decision to award the recognized program status followed an in-depth review conducted by the IFLA Europe School Recognition Panel (SRP). In its evaluation report, the panel highlighted the program’s well-defined structure, the broad range of compulsory and elective courses, the interdisciplinary approach to studio-based learning, and the regular involvement of international guest lecturers. The panel also commended the positive development in the scope of studio and project-based education since the previous assessment in 2019.
“We deeply appreciate this European recognition. It is a strong signal that we are moving in the right direction, and at the same time a commitment to further developing our program,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ing. Alena Salašová, the program guarantor.
IFLA Europe recommends continued innovation, particularly in curriculum structure and its alignment with professional practice. As the key professional body representing landscape architects across Europe, IFLA Europe’s endorsement is a significant step toward enhancing the quality and international competitiveness of education in this field.
