On Friday, September 26, 2025, an Open Day was held at the Faculty of Horticulture of MENDELU in Lednice. The event offered not only an introductory meeting with faculty representatives, but also a rich program for all those interested in studying horticultural disciplines.

The day was opened by the vice-dean of the faculty, doc. Ing. Radoslav Vlk, Ph.D., who welcomed the applicants and presented the mission and direction of the faculty. He was followed by the guarantors of the study programs, who outlined the study options and specifics of the individual fields.

This was followed by a varied program of tours of specialized institutes, where visitors could view laboratories, exhibition spaces, greenhouses, and studios and learn more about teaching and research activities. There was great interest in the seasonal fruit tasting at the Institute of Fruit Growing, the presentation of microgreens at the Institute of Vegetable and Flower Growing, and the visit to the wine cellar in Building D. At the Institute of Post-Harvest Technology of Horticultural Products, applicants tasted freeze-dried fruit, ice cream, ciders, and musts.

The day ended with a joint tour of the Thematic Gardens, which are a living example of the faculty’s professional work and also serve as an inspirational place for students and the public.

The Open Day thus provided applicants with a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of the faculty environment, meet their future teachers and classmates, and soak up the atmosphere of the Lednice campus.
