We are a proud faculty of the university since 1990s bearing the name of Gregor Johann Mendel, the father of genetics and discoverer of the basic laws of heredity.

The Faculty of Horticulture of the Mendel University in Brno, established on 1 September 1985, has raised several generations of experts across the entire breadth of the discipline of Horticulture. It provides structured bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree studies in full-time and distance form of learning. The faculty, including its student dormitories and refectory, is located within a campus complex in Lednice na Moravě.

The faculty runs a complex of demonstration gardens, experimental and collection greenhouses, extensive plant gene collections, and thanks to its success in national projects and grants it has managed to build and develop a modern scientific infrastructure with cutting-edge equipment. The faculty comprises also the Mendeleum, the research facility where Mendel’s laws of heredity had been rediscovered in the past.
