The Faculty of Horticulture at Mendel University in Brno continues to expand its international cooperation and has once again welcomed representatives of the prestigious Japanese company Kosugi Zohen. Specializing in landscape architecture, Kosugi Zohen is a member of both the Japan Federation of Landscape Contractors and the European Landscape Contractors Association (ELCA), offering valuable opportunities for further educational activities and international internships for students.
During their second visit, which took place at the turn of October and November this year, the company’s President, Mr. Saki Kosugi, and the Director of International Business, Mr. Andreas Hamacher, delivered two expert lectures focused on Japanese culture and the style of Japanese gardens. They also presented significant projects that the company has completed abroad, specifically in Azerbaijan and Bahrain. These lectures provided students and staff with insights into the specific aspects of Japanese garden art and Kosugi Zohen’s international projects.
As part of their visit, the guests took part in a guided tour of the Palm House, the Lednice Castle Park, and several other key locations of the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, organized by the faculty’s international office. This program allowed them to experience the unique cultural and natural values of the region and further strengthen their relationship with the faculty.
“Collaboration with Kosugi Zohen enriches us not only in research and education but also provides an opportunity to strengthen the exchange of expertise at an international level,” said the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Patrik Burg. “We believe this partnership will bring valuable experiences to our students and staff and open doors to joint projects.”
The second visit by Kosugi Zohen reinforced the existing partnership and highlighted new opportunities for further collaboration between the company and the Faculty of Horticulture in the field of landscape architecture.
