8th July - Lednice - Arrival, get oriented - welcome day to get oriented in Lednice area (UNESCO World Heritage Lednice - Valtice Area

9th July - Lednice -  healing properties of herbs, fruit and vegetable production, mushroom identification, botanical garden visit, sensory testing, botanical garden management

10th July - Lednice - practical application at labs and facilities of MENDELU - campus of Horticulture Faculty

11th July - Brno - MENDELU campus, food processing (probiotics, fermentation, meat processing, bakery products), Mendel University in Brno, Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Forest School Enterprise Křtiny, Brno city visit

12th July - Lednice - fruit and wine production, sensorial testing, orchards and National genepool field trip

13th July - Kromeriz city - historical gardens

14th July - Free day - visit of UNESCO Lednice - Valtice area

15th July - company visit at Bylinky ltd (greenhouse herb production), visit of Pálava hills and Mikulov medieval city

16th July - Olomouc city - botanical garden, Rosa collections, city visit (UNESCO site)

17th July - Brno - Forest School Enterprise Křtiny

18th July - Summary, Farewell

19th July - Departure

Total workload: theory 3 days, labs 3 days, professional trips 3 days, cultural visits 2 days


All participants of the entire summer school will receive official MENDELU certificate with description of the total workload and ECTS credits


Cost description

Study fee and domestic transportation in Czech Republic - free
Accommodation - cost 220 CZK/night - this payment should be done in advance
Meal - lunch at student canteen cc 4 USD (according to the selection), in restaurants from 5 USD, there are small shops close to faculty to buy food and prepare in hostel equiped with kitchen. Total estimated meal cost cc 15 USD/day
Entrance fee - cc 50 USD
Total estimated 350 USD + daily pocket money (souvenir … etc 50 USD)

We are preparing transport from and to airport by school bus – I will need to know which time do you expect your arrival to coordinate pick up.
